Following the demise of the Glaisnock Trust and the uncertain future
of Glaisnock House, the traditional arts workshop weeks, known as
'Summer Schools @ Glaisnock', have now moved to West Park, Dundee,
part of the University of Dundee campus.
The Summer Schools are now known as 'Living Tradition Summer Schools'.

Clarsach & Song

Clarsach and song with Maggie MacInnes and Wendy Stewart

We plan to share our skills in both instrumental playing and Scots and Gaelic singing (or accompaniment) with the traditional harp and will provide sessions at a basic and a more advanced level. Previous knowledge of Scots or Gaelic are not necessary as phonetic pronunciation and some background info will work wonders.

We will bring material and ideas, will teach by ear (a wee recording device would be an asset!) and provide music, words and inspiration to take away.

Moments of joy, frustration, elation and hilarity are guaranteed.......

The Tutors for this class are:

Maggie MacInnes Maggie MacInnes - Clarsach, Gaelic Song.Maggie MacInnes sings and plays the clarsach. She was born in Glasgow and now lives in Ayrshire. She comes from a long line of Gaelic singers from the small island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and learns most of her songs from her mother the highly acclaimed traditional singer, Flora MacNeil M.B.E. more about Maggie MacInnes
Wendy Stewart Wendy Stewart - Clarsach, Scottish song. more about Wendy Stewart

This class will run in Guitar and Instrumental Week
